Abstract

The power and complexity of microprocessors has continued to grow year on year. The technology used to develop these microprocessors has been a driving force in performance improvements. It should therefore be possible to implement an older processor using modern technology and improve its performance. This report will look at implementing a microprocessor using more modern technology and tools than when it was first designed. It will also show changes to the implementation, which can be made due larger transistor budgets.
